The enactment of new travel bans, the withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership and other “America first” policies have sent a shockwave of nationalist sentiment. Under these policies, questions have arisen around who constitutes an “American” and who is an outsider, who ‘belongs’ in the United States and who must stay out.en_US
