Abstract
The Downtown Preliminary
Development Plan lays out a
development vision that is intended
to reinvigorate Redmondâ s Down-town
core. It envisions a unique, mixed-use
heart for Redmond that responds to
and strengthens the historic character
of the district, provides economic
opportunities, invites pedestrian traffic,
and creates an attractive community
destination point. The plan divides
the Downtown into three sub-districts
(the Civic Core, 6th Street, and East
Downtown), describes an appropriate
mix of uses for each sub-district, and
posits potential locations for those
uses. Included with the plan are a
series of implementation measures
and strategies. The plan recommends
various public investments designed
to meet current City needs as well as
induce private redevelopment efforts.
As such, the plan is meant to guide
City-level decision-making regarding
strategic invest-ments, policy decisions,
and public-private partnerships. [From the Plan]
