The proposed action is commercial thinning and density management in forest stands on BLM-managed lands within the Matrix in the Myrtle Creek fifth-field watershed. Approximately 1300 acres were evaluated, and yield is estimated at 7-8 million board feet. Field verification and stand examinations reduced the acreage deemed suited for thinning and density management to approximately 663 acres. Stands may be native in origin or the result of reforestation following a previous harvest or a stand replacing event such as fire or windstorm. |
