These Commercial Development Design Standards are intended to enhance and protect the
cityâ s quality of life and community image through clearly articulated commercial
development design goals and policies and minimum design standards; to protect and
promote the cityâ s economic vitality through commercial design standards that encourage
and reward high quality development while discouraging less attractive and less enduring
alternatives; and to enhance and protect the security and health, safety, and welfare of the
public. In addition, the standards are intended to serve as, interim design standards for
