The planning process for the Corbett/Terwilliger/Lair Hill neighborhood began in the fall of 1972 in response to three major factors: the effect of urban renewal in the South Auditorium Area and its potential impact on the future development of the Lair Hill and Corbett neighborhoods; the construction of the Johns Landing development and its effect on the surrounding Terwilliger residential neighborhood; the possible improvements to Macdam Avenue and their effect on business in the Macadam Corridor.
