Symphony orchestras are experiencing a significant decline in audience attendance. The development of technology, the decline of music education, and the current state of our
economy, are just a few challenges that symphonies are coping with. Some
organizations have already found approaches to overcome these obstacles, but many are still struggling. Throughout this research the following question is explored: “What
audience development strategies are being used by Texas symphony orchestras?” This
work focuses largely on the Austin Symphony Orchestra and the San Antonio Symphony
through a comparative case study analysis. This project also involves document
analysis, observation and interviews. |
